All About the National Neopian Bank

The National Neopian Bank can be found on the main page of Neopia Central.

What's the use of a Neopian Bank will you ask? Well it should be quite obvious, it is for you to keep your hard earned neopoints in :) (to keep them out of harm's way, such as the Tax Beast, and, not in the least, to earn a daily interest).

Once you got your neopoints in your National Neopian account there is no time restriction on them, you can get them out anytime you want (the only restriction is you can only take money out of the bank fifteen times a day). If you choose to do so you can set a PIN that you'll need to enter each time you take out money (in order to protect your neopoints if your Neopian account will fall into wrong hands).

I've already said that your neopoints in the bank will also get you a bit of daily interest. This interest is calculated daily according to your bank account type and you'll have to claim it yourself, each day, by clicking a button (the given reason being that otherwise all the players that have old accounts will earn a fortune in interest even if they stopped visiting the site for years).

In order to change your bank account type you have to own the minimum amount of neopoints requested (note that after you successfully changed your account type you no longer need to have a specific amount in your bank account, you can even withdraw all the neopoints if you like). Your bank account type won't be automatically changed when you reach a certain amount of NP, you'll have to manually change it yourself.

Bank acount types, minimum neopoints requested and interest percentages they offer:
Junior Saver (the default one) - the interest percentage is 5% per year
Neopian Student (you need 1000 NP to reach this one) - 5.5% per year
Bronze Saver (2500 NP) - 6% per year
Silver Saver (5000 NP) - 6.5% per year
Super Gold Plus (10000 NP) - 7% per year
Platinum Extra (25000 NP) - 7.5% per year
Double Platinum (50000 NP) - 8% per year
Triple Platinum (75000 NP) - 8.5% per year
Diamond Deposit (100000 NP) - 9% per year
Diamond Deposit Plus (250000 NP) - 9.5% per year
Diamond Deposit Gold (500000 NP) - 10% per year
Millionaire Platinum (one mil. NP) - 10.5% per year
Millionaire Double Platinum (2 mil. NP) - 11% per year

How is the daily interest calculated? Like this: let's say you have n NP in your account; look at the interest offered by your account type (let's call it y%).

daily interest = (n x y /100) / 365, rounded by the nearest integer

For example if I had 5,136,740 NP in my bank account this will mean I can have a Millionaire Mega-Platinum account, with an yearly interest of 11.5%. My daily interest would then be
(5,136,740 NP x 11.5 / 100) / 365 = 1618.42 which rounded will mean a daily interest of 1619.

All about the Giant Omelette :)

You can find the Giant Omelette in the Tyrannian Plateau.

"Legend has it that hundreds of years ago, a dinosaur of GIGANTIC proportions laid a massive egg. That egg split open, and started to bake in the sun. Ever since then, a giant omelette has been cooking on the Tyrannian Plateau. It may seem silly, but it is true."

You can visit there once a day and pick up a random omelette that is actually three portions of food (each time your pet eats out of an omelette it only consumes a third of it).

Ocassionally the giant omelette is said to be gone, but you can come back in a few hours to get a piece because another egg will hatch 'till then. :)

Be careful though not to feed your pet a rotten omelette as it will make it sick with Ugga Ugga.

As an extra tidbit there is also an omelette named Magical Tomato and Pepper Omelette but it has absolutely no effect on your pet.
